I especially loved how he took care of Riley and whispered how much ge adored her in Russian from the get go. One last thing I want to say is that I liked how Sloane and Declan's story ended but I didn't like the Epilogue told by Kage (Book 1's hero), which made me get really pissed at him.

How is it possible that I adored Sloane in her book but couldn’t stand her in this? Yeah, Riley didn’t paint a pretty picture but it was Sloane herself that annoyed the crap out of me. Honestly, her sister wasn’t much better. Savage Hearts is the third book in the Queens & Monsters series and I don't know how it can continue to be this good. I was sure no book could hold a candle to Carnal Urges. Sloane and Declan captured my heart so fully, I didn't know if anyone could compete. Then Riley and Mal came steam rolling onto my kindle. This one had a good story with Sloane being outgoing and amiable, yet talkative and Declan being grumpy and often frustrated with her. Especially since he just can’t figure out how well she takes everything that happens to her. She is kidnapped, shot at and more and she takes everything in stride while making friends with stoic gangsters along the way. Natalie invites Kage out on a date with her friend Sloane & Sloane’s current flavor of the month & his friends. Upon entering the restaurant, it’s obvious Kage is well aware of who these men with Sloane are & the girls can tell something’s off. At the restaurant gunfire erupts & from that point on…secrets about who Kage really is slowly start to surface & that’s when the fireworks between Kage & Natalie start to go off & you get to the JUICY part of the book. Every time they have sex, he asks her something and she answers by saying “Sir” or “Master”. And he says, “Good girl!” That’s so not my scene! Every time she said that, I wanted to puke. I suspect there’s more he wants to say. The pause felt significant. I wait, my heartbeat going even faster. Sloane props herself up on her elbows and gazes at me thoughtfully. “We might be looking at this the wrong way.”That makes me even angrier. Seething, I glare at him. “Then you’re a piss-poor excuse for a human being. Liars are the worst. You know why? Because they’re cowards. That's why I know it took 15% til Riley and Malek interact. It doesn't sound that long, but it felt like forever. Idk if that's the reason why their romance was just 'okay', but I still liked some of their earlier banter.

Ah, romance.Fourth Wing put me in another slump and re-reading sloanedeclan’s diary helped me a little to get out of it again so it deserves bonus points for that. 🙏 the plot - for starters, there was nothing except the whole espionage thing which ruined it for me. I really hated that idea and how Declan played all sides. It was confusing and it was too much to believe and to coherently manage. Also him asking her to join him didn’t make much sense because he only took into account that she’s be good at it not the fact that I genuinely think she would hate it because she is a soft soul.(despite the posturing). And again, despite that spy angle there was literally nothing to the plot. They had sex a lot, exchanged witty barbs then down the line exchanged some flowery declarations of eternal Iove. That’s it and it was underwhelming. Second by second, this kiss is killing me. Whenever he decides to end it, I’ll slide to the floor and expire at his feet. Maybe that’s been his plan all along. This is how he’ll murder me. Death by estrogen overload. I am not a mafia romance reader. I certainly am not a BDSM reader and since Ms Geissinger started writing books with gangsters in it and include more and more BDSM in them, I have been missing her previous work even more.
