The quality and range of inflatable kayaks have really improved over early examples. Top-end inflatables are now even being used in competitions, which was unheard of just a few years ago. Well, it happens to us too, that's why today we are going to give you a complete review of one of our favorite Aqua Marina kayaks, for two people and with a super dynamic design, the Steam 412 Kayak. With a PVC material that’s more robust than vinyl and railings of a certain proportion, the Steam 412 is rated for some mild white water rafting. Specifically, it’s a Class 3 certification intended for intermediate kayakers able to cope with mild rapids and moderate-sized waves. The Aqua Marina Steam is available in two different sizes – a 10’3” long solo kayak and a 13’6” long tandem kayak. The solo version is rated for up to 250 lbs. Seating is subjective, for sure, but the seat is a bit flimsy for the price (and careful to keep the seat's forward higher clasps attached forward and the lower seat clasps attached aft). Its inflatable V-shape keel design makes it more efficient on strokes and the maximum weight it can hold is 341 lbs.As the images illustrate below, all the features and the design profile make for a boat that can do a lot and probably survive for a long time. It will likely do so while keeping beginners and intermediates interested in long sessions for years. The Laxo 2 person inflatable from Aqua Marina is a stylish and well-built kayak that comes complete with everything you need to get out on the water. Along with two paddles, a foot pump, and a carry bag, there are also two detachable fins for straight-line stability.

Because it is so light, it is a bit harder to self-rescue, but because they have bungee cords and ropes in the bow and stern, that's smart design. Bringing a pump, perhaps a smaller one than the included unit from Aqua Marina along with the repair kit is worth considering too. These ultra-stiff materials in the STEAM’s construction make a portable air-kayak so rigid that performs just as good as a traditional hard-shell kayak. A perfect choice for long distance adventures and mild river running in Saskatchewan or Yukon Rivers, two of our favorites. Overall, the mid-priced Laxo is a superb choice for beginners and more experienced paddlers alike, with some great features. The only slight issue is the low maximum carrying weight.
