About this deal

This is written about in a very matter of fact and practical way without being sensationalist or going into lots of detail. Mark Williams -Thomas is a respected retired police detective and has since made a name for himself as a criminal investigator but I don’t understand him at all. I would thoroughly recommend this book if you are interested on how crimes are solved and how killers are tracked down using modern, up-to-date methods and technology.

I also found the book offered new perspective to me on cases I thought I knew and had made up my mind about. I'm fairly sure that of course, he wants to advance forward, but I truly believe this is for the good of crime investigation in this country and beyond. The information in the book really brought it home just how much “the tabloid effect” contributes to the way crimes are communicated to (or not) and perceived by the public, and even perhaps the outcome of those cases in court.

Lots of talk about helping families, but Williams-Thomas is not a private detective paid for by families, which means he's reliant on media "if it bleeds, it leads" money. Clearly the author has achieved an awful lot in his career, but the book is in no way about his personal achievements, it is all about the victims and that is what I especially loved about it.

For instance, something he mentions at the very end of the book I believe will absolutely change the way crimes are investigated, and in particular, cold cases, definitely for the better going forward, and I can't champion this enough. The story waffles on about the author, and even after advancing to some of the later chapters the waffle doesn't stop. A shocking thriller about a cold case, a fictional true crime series, and the family caught in the middle. You really want to follow this investigator because he is very convincing and then out of the blue, he becomes his own antithesis. Really well written, incredibly interesting and I think a very important book to get a lot of information out there, I had no idea for instance the press behaved as described!Describing him as a religious, nice bloke who was an innocent victim of circumstance who mistakenly shot to death his girlfriend is bizarre. Mark Williams-Thomas, a former police detective and multi-award-winning investigative journalist is kicking off the last leg of his previously sold-out tour for his book ‘Hunting Killers’ this time starting in the South-west of England.
