The romantic journey they went through to resolve their relationship absolutely broke my heart and mended it back together. Dominic must change the way he lives his life if he wants Alessandra back, and that’s not something you can do overnight.I do wish there was a little more angst, but like I’ve said before above, when you’ve loved someone for so long, it’s hard to just walk away like they meant nothing to you, and Ana executed that beautifully. Bringing their own unique and counter-balanced personalities to proceedings they ask questions such as: what is happiness? I’m also a sucker for opposites-attract, and it’s a lot of fun when the MMC is the uptight one who’s shown a good time by the FMC. It takes a lot more than a ‘sorry’ for Dominic to get Ále back, but in the end, he finally comes to the realization that his wife of a decade is worth a whole lot more than work opportunities that will come by again.

It also shows us how Dominic and Alessandra met, as well as gives us insight into their initial romance. Though I wish the story was a little longer (it was only 315 pages), I still enjoyed every page, even though this book got more tears out of me than anything else. Her King of Greed appearance only features the mouth of the original fish form as a replacement for her weapon and, a similar head as the one found in the monster's mouth. Moving out and trying to move on, Alessandra started finding herself again and doing things that make her happy; building her business and discovering new and old hobbies again. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

I have to say that I love the cultural representation in Ana’s books and as a Latina, I felt great reading about another Latina (although we also have Stella). It all comes crashing down when Dominic breaks his promise to be on time for their flight to Washington D. Yes, it takes Dom a while to right his wrongs, but when you’ve loved one person for more than a decade, it’s hard to convince not only yourself or the other person, but everyone else around you that you can live without them. When she’s not reading or writing, Ana is busy daydreaming and scouring Yelp for her next favorite restaurant.I was hoping for a little more groveling, but at the same time, I understand where the MCs are coming from. He has everything – a beautiful home, a beautiful wife and more money than he could spend in a lifetime. He needs to prove he’s in it for the long-haul, and watching him commit to that plan of action is extremely satisfying.
