This lot is being sold by either; 1) a non-UK seller or 2) a VAT Registered Business, and is therefore subject to VAT. Good job on this release but allow me to give a big warning to those who awaits the general release of Kelpie on Ardbeg day 2017: I don’t think it will be up to this version.

Reasonable more enjoyable than the Limited Release at 46% ABV, this doesn’t require any water and is perfectly drinkable neat. The whisky boasts intense flavour, offering a peppery palate, with hints of spice, toffee and vanilla, finishing on a black olive note.I have to admit that up to Ardbog, the 2013 Ardbeg Day release, I was very happy with the special releases but I admit there had been a lapse of faith after the last few releases with Perpetuum being rock bottom, so when I heard on Kelpie, the 2017 bottling I was again very skeptic and thought to myself: Oh come on, what’s that wood voodoo of using casks from oak that grows in a remote region in Russia? Ardbeg distillery was officially founded in 1815 by Duncan Macdougall, although it’s thought that the distillery was making spirit before then.

Based in Livingston, Scotland I do most of my dramming at the University of Edinburgh Water of Life Society and Scotch Malt Whisky Society.It’s a slightly sweet smoke but it lacks the slightly savory element that I’d associate with barbecue. Nose A wonderful, intense, ‘dancing’ nose, with lots of different, intertwined aromas – powerful, oily peat, dark chocolate, smoked fish, hints of seaweed, and a curious, sharp herbal note.
