This year it was clear from the outset that both sides had honed their tactics and had a clear game plan. The magical storm enhances the power of the spell but as a consequence Mortus is temporarily paralysed. Each model has a card with all the stats needed and checkboxes to mark wounds (not too many, 4-5 life usually per model) so the table is kept clean at all times despite some light token bookkeeping. As others have observed, it is redolent of the Brian Jacques Redwall series but has quite a lot more of the dark humour that I enjoy so much in Warhammer Fantasy.

There are some great narrative touches in this game and the rule variations are well thought out and make the individual scenarios rich with all kinds of exciting possibilities. Billy Blackeye makes it to a grave but rather than dig in the dirt, decides to take a shot at Eddie Maggot with his blunderbuss. She makes a MOVE Action to make contact with the weasel and them makes an Ambush Roll-off but with a modifier of –1 because there is another enemy within 6″ of the target. I haven’t updated this Blog for quite some time now and whilst I still continue to collect, paint and play with my little fantasy war models I have not really found the time or the impetus to record these activities. Burton has sustained a chest wound (gained Delicate) but Mortus and Hugo escape any permanent injury.I have made only one minor change to the procedure that is set out on the rules and I’ll mention it because it’s relevant to one of the Actions. The higher ground modifier makes sense to me and, once again, gives players an incentive to use vertical terrain.

The magical storm has little effect on the casting of the spell but Nigel does take a few burns from it.
