About this deal

I was introduced to Literary agent James Spackman, who is a cycling enthusiast so we spoke the same language. And, her biggest takeaway is that in reality it is what ACTUALLY everyone else does because it's the short journeys, the morning rides and ride with friends that have contributed to the whole that brought her to this amazing accomplishment. Cycling around the world is no mean feat, but doing it at this pace is an entirely different experience. At the end of the book, she admits that writing has never been her forte, indeed it's never appealed.

Submitting to extreme efforts for 124 days 10 hours and 50 minutes, she preferred riding into the wee hours past midnight throughout her trip. It’s a reflective and inspiring book about a young woman who is putting everything on the line to achieve an amazing goal. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. That’s three Incredibles in the last few sentences, so if you did not know already, I LOVED this book.

Irgendwann hat ihr ein Bekannter das Buch von Mark Beaumont empfohlen, der 2008 als schnellster Radfahrer um die Welt gefahren war. One of the major and, in my opinion, most impressive aspects of Jenny's record was the self-supported element. ich bin selbst leidenschaftlicher Radfahrer und haue regelmässig ganztägige Touren raus, aber sie macht 300km Tag um Tag um Tag, mit kaum Schlaf und regelmässigen Pannen.

One doesn't have to be a cyclist, a fan of the sport or even know anything about a bike to enjoy this book. I used a variety of different methods to trick my brain into sitting still and being productive on a screen. I’d adapt the time of day I wrote or allotted for exercise – what percentage of time I’d sit down or move around. While getting back on the saddle often meant lingering over another cup of coffee, she observed plenty about the 4 continents she traversed and its inhabitants during daylight hours to entertain the reader with succinct but colorful descriptions about the changing landscapes and cultures she experienced.Graham drove herself mercilessly to maintain a daily scheduled distance, and described the psychological battles she fought to keep pedaling, even when she fell ill. I felt it could have benefited from some pictures (in addition to the few on the back cover), and a map of her route. She does talk about her relationships with family and friends, but the real people aspect of this book is her interactions with those from other countries and cultures. Along the 18,000 miles over 16 countries, we get a glimpse of what it’s like to sleep in desolate areas, fight through storms, mend gear, deal with unsavory locals, and narrowly make checkpoints as she strives to make it to the finish line on time.
