About this deal

I read an eARC courtesy of Razorbill/Penguin Young Readers Group via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Agent 9 is a feline secret agent will do whatever it takes to save the world--even if it means destroying a few things along the way.

On probation, Agent 9 is promised one last crime-busting chance by big boss O (a very literal BIG boss - O is a huge orangatan, to be exact). It seems that whenever there’s an obstacle, they’ll knock it down, even if they’ve not tested it through first! The fact I saw it when it was over two years old and we've only had one sequel suggests the franchise didn't really take off, which was a surprise – there may be hundreds of books like this out there, but this was a friendly and enjoyable one, and for once not something so daft and gaudy people over a certain age were excluded. A joyous and charming book - entertaining and witty, this will have so many fans in school and will get passed around class with great delight.

This led James to a long career working in animation on various feature films and television shows, including Space Jam, the Iron Giant, the Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Wow Wow Wubbzy, the Bravest Warriors and most recently the reboot of the Power Puff Girls (just to name a few). This secret spy is forced back into the game when supervillain King Crab has captured all the agent's. Agent 9 bolts, bounds, and —more often —explodes through every hilarious page in this welcome new addition to the spy genre. Don't hate me for thinking the thing is a male, though – it's certainly going to be over-thinking the whole book to discuss it much anyway. Agent 9 bolts, bounds, and — more often — explodes through every hilarious page in this welcome new addition to the spy genre. But if you have a library full of kids who loved Investigators, they are going to love this one too. is a funny, action-packed graphic novel that will appeal to fans of the Dog Man and Bunny vs Monkey series. The only thing standing in his way is Agent 9 as well as her robotic assistant FiN who will try to put an end to Crab’s plans before he can initiate Flood-A-Geddon. Great action sequences throughout bring the Mission Impossible/James Bond vibe, while still being hilarious and sweet too, Agent 9 is very entertaining.

When James Burks was little, there was only one thing that he wanted to be when he grew up; a light-saber-wielding, truck-driving space pirate with a monkey for a first mate. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!

Agent 9 is impulsive and rather disaster-prone, with a tendency to blow things up and forget vital pieces of equipment. This crime-fighting caper is perfect for readers who like their adventures to be funny as well as exciting. I'm looking forward to seeing further Agent 9 adventures; at a time when interest in graphic novels is rising, this series should find lots of new fans. Of course, Agent 9's impulsiveness interferes with her plans but she and FIN manage to reach King Crab's headquarters - but FIN is captured! For all those reluctant readers, this will be a breath of fresh air as it looks like the best chunky novels and will help build their desire to read.
