About this deal

It’s perhaps unnecessarily showy and I would have preferred some kind of graph or useful info- but accept most people only care how cold it feels! Cost aside, the biggest problem with a battery of this size is that you’re shouldering the burden of responsible disposal. This is a truly portable air conditioning unit (and heater), which has an optional battery pack and solar input for true wire-free use, both in the house and out and about. The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used, except with the prior written permission of Condé Nast.

To set a fair comparison we’ll drop the battery out of the equation (you likely won’t need it around the home, but it has some real potential benefits for load shifting) and set the very low expectation that we want to cool two rooms, but not necessarily at the same time. EcoFlow's tailor-made compressor enables WAVE 2 to provide 1,495W (5100 BTU/hrs) of cooling and 1,800W (6100 BTU/hrs) of heating. I was able to get all sorts of interesting data from the WAVE 2 (such as compressor RPM, battery level, temperature and much, much more) which I will be attempting to graph over the next few weeks (weather providing).Despite its small size, this portable air conditioning (and heating unit) packs a punch and can cool smaller rooms, camper vans, caravans and tents with ease. Still, that means that if the battery was charged for three months of the year, once per day, it would take 8.

Placed in a room with no direct sunlight, the Wave 2 dealt more easily with heat: my 28°C room dropped to a more pleasant 22°C within an hour. It is possible that an exemption from VAT pursuant to Sec 12 para 3 German VAT Act is applicable for the selected product. For air conditioning, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is rated at a maximum of 5100BTU, although that assumes mains power, which it draws 550W; on battery power, power consumption is slightly reduced to 495W.With a substantial battery capacity of 1159Wh, the EcoFlow Wave 2 Add-On Battery offers an impressive runtime.

It’s only water so it’s not a big deal, but it’s a little disconcerting getting the thing wet in the process. In addition to the off-grid charging capability, EcoFlow also uses R290 refrigerant, which is more eco-friendly than traditional refrigerants, as it has no ozone-destruction qualities. This means when a blackout hits, you can continue to power your important home devices such as your fridge and lights for hours on end. PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONING AND INSTALLATION FREE] Enjoy the convenience of cooling and heating right out of the box! This also means it runs quietly, albeit the end with the charging outlets gets a bit warm when it’s in use. Sure I can massage the numbers to say anything I want, but the point is – roughly – that this almost competent napkin maths suggests 5100 BTUs is pretty much right on the money to cool a very average British master bedroom.
