Immediately after finishing, I picked up his next book, “And If You Play Golf, You’re My Friend”, to get transported back into his mind. The greatest statement, in my opinion, is that golf mirrors life, and the reader will catch a good glimpse of this truism as the pages turn.Wilson and I responded it’s a book about golf and golf lessons then the student proceeded to say that sounds like the most boring book ever. I read this book at the driving range and I like it enough that if the second book is still at BookOff the next time I visit, I'll probably get it (I obviously didn't learn my lesson about having too many books when I moved). Miyagi that he realized he was actually learning karate through all of the repititious chores he was doing. If you're a beginning golfer and don't have the fundamentals down then as an instruction book this won't be of much use.

Penick’s text takes a holistic approach to the golf swing and overall game, which seems applicable to a wide and varied audience.My wife, Helen, could have read it, of course, but a lifetime spent living with a grown-up caddie like me provided Helen with all the information about golf that she cares to know. His simple, direct, practical wisdom pares away all the hypertechnical jargon that's grown up around the game, and lets all golfers play their best - whatever their level. Another way is to put your iron down on the grass with a square face, and you will see where the manufacturer designed the club to be played.
