About this deal

Author’s Note: It came to my attention since this review first published that some of these functions in the Sound Blaster Command app which allow you to make adjustments on the fly via your phone, which helps somewhat with the inaccessibility of having the unit tethered directly to the front of the console, but still requires prohibitively long headphone cables in a majority of living room setups.) The Sound Blaster Command App offers a range of features, not requiring you to plug into a PC to adjust. Instead everything can be tweaked using Bluetooth to get your audio sounding exactly how you want it to, which once again, speaks massively to the easy console accessibility that this portable amp is going for. Before we get into the recommendations, it's worth mentioning what we'll be looking for when choosing the best gaming headsets. We want a comfortable pair of headphones you can wear for hours without discomfort, perfect for marathon gaming sessions. Sound quality is also key, so that you can hear each sound clearly and become totally immersed in the game. Naturally, you'll need to communicate with your friends or teammates too, so a built-in mic with good noise mitigation is also important. Finally, we also would like to see support for multiple systems, so that if you own a console and a PC, or multiple consoles, you can use the same headset on both. Sound Blaster G3: Microsoft® Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 8.1 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit Automatically adjusts the loudness of your voice towards others while maintaining it at a consistent volume level, so you can converse normally without straining on your voice.

Let's take a look at what's included. At the bottom of the device, there are three inputs for headphones, microphones and optical (via a short adapter cable), while on the other end is a USB-C plug that can be converted to full-size USB (with another included adapter). This setup covers you on the PS4, Switch and computers of all kinds, but while Xbox is supported via the optical input you won't be able to use voice comms here. The Sound Blaster G3 is something of an investment, but it's also something that you can use with a wide range of consoles and computers, or even Android phones, and you'll get some benefit out of it even for listening to music or playing non-competitive games. For that reason, if you want to take your audio quality seriously and you're using wired headphones, the G3 is a sensible acquisition. There are countless solutions in the market, many of which are targeted at group conference calls from a single meeting room. But as we move on to telecommuting, what about the remote worker? And where do you start? However, the app itself appears to be quite minimal so not too annoying to have running on your system. It is Windows only, so it won’t benefit everyone. That's not all — Sound Blaster X3 works beyond just headphones. With support for multi-channel audio output of up to 7.1 discrete surround in speakers, enjoy binge-watching on your latest series effortlessly with surround sound delivery that's distinctively positioned for audio envelopment. The Maxwell is also robustly constructed with plenty of metal, as you'd hope from a headset at this price range. It's available in both PlayStation and Xbox variants, and of course supports use with the PC and many other BT devices as well. This feature is available for PS4, PS4 Pro, PS4 Slim, and PS5 via optical connection only. HOW TO SETUP

The G3 comes with an accompanying Creative app, which features our CrystalVoice technology that’s designed to ensure that every syllable of your speech will be delivered with pristine accuracy. CrystalVoice also encompasses three other audio technologies, Noise Reduction, Smart Volume, and Acoustic Echo Cancellation, to deliver the best vocal fidelity so you can hear and speak clearly. I don’t have audiophile quality hearing, but there is a perceived improvement switching from on-device audio to using this DAC.Yleiskuvaus Tässä se on. Ensimmäinen Sound Blaster suunniteltu erityisesti PlayStation ®- ja Nintendo Switch™ -käyttäjille. While the Maxwell sounds incredible, its comfort is only good to middling thanks to not insignificant clamping force, slightly ungainly dimensions and a kerb weight of 490g; this is not a headset you'll forget you're wearing. Microphone quality is unfortunately not up to the standards of the best wireless models from Corsair and Razer either, though AI noise cancellation does help; this feels like a headset designed for your aural pleasure rather than that of your teammates. The app works well, and it offers a significant performance improvement compared to the default settings in Windows.

The light weight (300 grams), memory foam ear cups and only moderate clamping strength means that these headsets feel comfortable to wear for long periods, and the plastic construction feels relatively sturdy in the hand with metal sliders for added durability. Rotating ear cups are handy if you fancy letting your ears rest for a while, but you still want to be able to hear the broad strokes of your game. What's not so handy is the Micro USB charging, which has been retained even on the new PS5-branded model and is a bit annoying in 2023 where almost everything is USB-C. You'll also need to press the power button twice after turning it on to disable the lighting - I wish the headset would just remember this setting as the lighting adds nothing to the experience but harms battery life significantly. I then tested it with both my desktop PC, my Huawei P30 Pro, and my OnePlus 9 Pro. I have noticed some people say USB-C DACs don’t always play nice with some phones, such as OnePlus, but I experienced no issues with any of the devices I tested this on.

For this reason, it’s “easy access” controls also become less-than-easy-access if you’re not running a desktop setup for your console. For a device that is supposed to put these controls at your fingertips, it also requires you to have your console basically at your fingertips. While I love that it adds these capabilities to less feature-rich headphones, it’s also pretty inconvenient unless your setup can accommodate it. It also means your headphone cable needs to be long enough to reach, which in my specific application, none of them were. I don’t have any headphones with 10+ foot cables. Our Sound Blaster G3 is a portable USB audio DAC and amp that is designed to help you sound more professional and communicate clearly. All you need to do is to plug in the Sound Blaster G3 to your PC or Mac, connect it with your headphones that comes with a built-in mic, and change your video call app’s audio settings. I am not a huge fan of having to install software for all my peripherals, so this is a big plus for me. Creative App with SmartComms Besides, there's no need to sacrifice your room's physical space for an actual 7.1 sound system! Simply connect the Sound Blaster X3 to your computer for immersive surround sound output which is perfect for gaming sessions with friends, or to impress that special someone during movie nights.

Tämä ominaisuus on saatavana vain PS4-, PS4 Slim-, PS4 Pro -konsoleille, PC:lle ja Macille. KUINKA ASENTAA For Window users, there's also Dolby Digital Live 1 for convenience of encoding any audio sources to multi-channel surround sound in real-time, all while transmitting data using only a single optical cable solution for decoding on a home theater system. Others: Microsoft® Windows® 10 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 8.1 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit The Sound Blaster G3 is a great little portable audio amp with very specific applications. Before just running out and grabbing one, you’ll want to make sure it’s something that will work seamlessly in your setup. However, if you game at a desk and don’t mind being tethered to your console, it’s a great way to get better sound and more features out of your headphones, especially if you don’t want to break the bank and invest in higher quality cans. Even with good quality headsets, however, the G3 will make a marked improvement, and likely offer a number of features missing from any headset that plugs in via 3.5mm connection.

Creative Sound Blaster G3 Review – Tethered

With the drivers installed properly, you gain access to various tweaks; this includes settings audio up to 24 bit and 192KHz while the mic goes up to 24 bit and 48KHz. All in all, the HS80 family is a really positive step forward from Corsair in terms of design, outperforming their previous efforts and providing a solid basis for future development, and the HS80 Max is an awesome choice for PC and PlayStation gamers who want a comfortable, low-latency wireless headset. On Windows, you can use the Creative app with SmartComms Kit. This software is required to make the most of the various microphone features such as SmartComms with its auto-muting.
