About this deal

As any carpenter will let you know, at least one worth his money, a final piece is only good as the material it’s made out of. If you don’t think this is true you will change your mind. Learning curves are quite steep here. This was great news to me as this user apparently didn’t have any problem with the machine overheating. Great news indeed…as I really wanted to get one now. And while there were some people who apparently has some issues with either the blades, dust collector, feed roller, dust boot outlet, you name it. But as one user put it, you do have to put in a little work into properly maintaining the Makita. You should also wear a dust mask, safety goggles and ear defenders when using your planer. Never wear loose clothing, such as ties, scarves or jewellery, when using the machine as these can get caught in the rollers. Double-insulated, this machine is also relatively quiet compared to most other models. It has a dust extraction hood for effective dust removal, wrenches and a magnetic holder. Everyone wants to buy these machines because they want to get the perfect result they can’t achieve with hand tools or save their time. That’s why this model features a fast knife change so that you can change the knife within a short time of 10 minutes.

The Makita 2012NB 12" (304mm) Portable Planer delivers portability and productivity with a compact design, quieter operation, and faster, easier blade changes. It features Makita's exclusive Interna-Lok automated head clamp to eliminate snipe for improved planing performance. The 15 Amp motor delivers a no-load speed of 8,500 RPM and lower noise (only 83dB). Loaded up with a big 1,800 Watt motor, the blades spin to an impressive 12,000 rpm. This fast-moving planer can take off up to 3 mm of material per pass, and each blade is double-sided, so you get twice the life out of them. The integrated dust collection port is ideally placed too. In my eyes, you cannot go wrong with a Dewalt model, and this 13-inch one is pretty good. I have it in my shop and find it leaves even the worst of reclaimed wood boards in top shape. The 15-AMP motor with 20,000 RPM and a cutter head speed of 10,000 RPM will do any work no matter how hard the wood piece is. Sporting a 1,250 Watt motor that spins the blades up to 8,000 rpm, this Scheppach planer is more suited to small pieces of wood. With a maximum cutting width of just 204 mm and a height of 120 mm, it’s not the best in its class, but it’s enough for most DIYers.

On the downside, it is very noisy, quite a bit more so than most other machines we’ve reviewed. Furthermore, while this is a good quality machine, you should know that the sides are plastic, making it slightly less durable. Featuring large in and out feed tables for extra support, this model has a generous 317mm width, one of the largest in our selection.

the tool is not an Air Compressor/ Air Tool, a Battery/ Charger, an Accessory, or a Petrol or Production Tool Let’s start this comparison with Makita 2012nb. This model is manufactured by a company called “Makita”. It’s a trustworthy company which has been providing its services for over 20 years. If you’re looking for a machine that can plane 2mm depth, then DeWalt DW733 is for you. Because most of the devices only offer 6mm depth. You can easily use this machine for all small woodpiles. Now, this third option is a model from WEN. What stands this wood planer apart is its granite tables, providing quite a sturdy, smooth surface for wood to travel on. The 15Amp motor is also very powerful, generating about 18,800 cuts/ minute at a good feed rate of 26 feet/ minute. Pretty good stats I have to say. The Makita 2012NB/2 is fairly easy to set up and operate. Despite its higher price tag, this model represents good value for money thanks to its premium build quality and power. Look for models with motors with a minimum of 1KW, ideally 1.5KW plus, for better performance. Planing Width The no-load speed of 8,500 rpm and maximum planing depth of 2.8 mm per pass is impressive for a benchtop planer. It means you can get a lot of work done without needing to make too many passes. The 7.5 m per minute feed rate isn’t too bad either.
