About this deal

The insertion of a catheter can be painful for the patient, which is why the clinician will use catheterisation jelly, a lubricating gel specifically developed to aid the insertion of the catheter, minimising pain and reducing the risk of infection and trauma. Why do we offer a range of catheterisation gels? We offer OptiLube sterile lubricating jelly in a range of sizes and formats, from 2.7g sachets, up to 113g tubes. Our range of formats allows the clinician to select the size most suitable for the procedure, reducing product waste and promoting best practice infection prevention with the use of our single-use formats. Sterile, single-use sachets

OptiLube Zero is manufactured for Optimum Medical by Sion Biotext Medical Ltd under the name Cervilube. OptiLube Zero (Cervilube) has been approved for use with the ThinPrep Pap Test by Hologic. OptiLube catheterisation jelly pre-filled syringes are ideally suited to patients with contraindications or sensitivities to local anaesthetic (Lidocaine) and/or antiseptic (Chlorhexidine Gluconate). OptiLube catheterisation jelly syringes are part of our catheterisation jelly range, a range of sterile, lubricating pre-filled syringes, developed specifically for use during catheterisation. Non-sterile bottles of Vue Ultrasound Gel have a shelf-life of three years if unopened or one month from opening. When selecting an ultrasound gel, it’s important to select the right format of gel for the procedure and the patient. Sterile ultrasound gel OptiLube Zero contains no carbomers, no parabens and no chlorhexidine, and is expertly formulated to offer optimal lubrication to aid the insertion of medical devices during a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Festive opening times

Any vaginal examination or speculum examination can be quite uncomfortable for the patient, and embarrassing. So you want to minimise any level of discomfort the procedure may involve.” Hayley explains. Vue Ultrasound Gel should be used for external examinations only. However, the benefit of using a single-use, sterile format of ultrasound gel, ensures it is suitable for all external ultrasound examinations, on intact skin. With each of these brands, we provide detailed product training, to ensure our lubricants and gels bring maximum benefit to many aspects of healthcare. We believe this support is just as important as the products themselves.

We do our best to keep our delivery prices fair, and we only charge you what the courier services are charging us. Hayley Edwards, Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, discusses why she uses OptiLube sterile lubricating gel for a wide range of procedures in clinic, outpatients and theatre. A sterile, water-based formulation is the preferred lubricant for many clinicians in the UK, Hayley explains, “We’ve been using water-based lubricants here in the UK for many years now as the older style, oil-based lubricants can damage polymers. For example, rubber gloves or certain other materials that we may use in procedures.” We offer non-sterile Vue Ultrasound Gel in bottles of 250ml and 1l. These larger volume options of ultrasound gel are ideal for use in a busy healthcare setting. Non-sterile ultrasound gel is suitable for use during low risk, general examinations on intact skin, and not immediately prior (within 24 hours) to an invasive procedure on the same area.

OptiLube Syringes

Because all patients are different, we offer a range of catheterisation jellies. OptiLube sterile lubricating jelly, OptiLube Active and OptiLube Active CHG Freemake up our range of catheterisation gels, ensuring there is a catheterisation gel suitable for all patients or clinical requirements.

Chlorhexidine has been identified as the cause of hypersensitivity reactions in some patients, which is why we offer a choice of three catheterisation jellies. For adult patients, the maximum single dosage is 16g of gel which contains 0.32g of lidocaine. This is equivalent to 16ml of Optilube Active. Our 20g sachet is supplied double-wrapped and is sterile inside and outside the sachet. Larger volume tubes

Delivery

All catheterisation gels in our range are supplied in a familiar syringe format, individually wrapped for minimal handling. We offer each of our catheterisation gels in a 6ml (female) and an 11ml (male) pre-filled syringe, ensuring the full length of the male or female urethra is coated in lubricant, making the passage of the catheter smoother and the patient more comfortable during and after the procedure.
