Access from Hulands quarry onto the A66 will become left-in, left-out only and the central reservation on the A66 closed to prevent right-hand turns at this location. A night-time hard shoulder and Lane 1 and 2 closures of the M62 eastbound and westbound carriageways Traffic lights and convoy, Access to and from properties within the closure on the westbound carriageway will be controlled by traffic management operatives. Typical working hours will be between 7.30am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday and 8.00am – 2.00pm on a Saturday.
The junctions at Sandford and Warcop comprise ghost islands – islands that use only road markings with no raised curbs or other physical obstructions – and there are no specific facilities provided at Moor House, Hayber Lane, Toddygill, Flitholme and Langrigg junctions. Drivers can also find themselves in a vulnerable position when attempting to slow and leave the A66, especially when turning right. Benefits

We are undertaking drainage and embankment work at Valley Farm, around three-and-a-half miles east of Stainmore, to help maintain safety for road users. This will manage the integrity of the embankment which protects the carriageway and farm access underpass at this point on the A66. We have changed some of our designs and consulted in local areas. You can find out more in our winter update The A67 is only primary for a short section at its beginning, and is very much overshadowed by its big brother, the A66. Nowadays it appears to be of too slight significance to justify the two-digit number. However, until the 1960s, the A67 was the principal east-west route through southern County Durham - and the A66 is to blame for the fact that this has changed. We aim to start this work on Monday 4 September - so we can set up traffic management there will be full night time closures on the A616 on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September, 8pm until 6am.
A full closure of the A66 westbound from Boathouse to Little Burdon will be required to set up and remove the contraflow at the start of work on Friday night (approximately 8-9pm) and at the end of work on Monday morning (approximately 5-6am).
