About this deal

The arrangement will see the celebrity chef become a partner and Maestro del Gusto (Master of Flavour) for Ginato, pairing the gin with Italian food recipes and helping develop new Ginato Gin variants and releases over the coming years. Maybe it’s the greyhound on the label, but there’s a definite sleekness to Windspiel – perhaps down to the fact that its base spirit is made with potatoes. It’s super elegant: lots of juniper, citrus, candied lemon peel and a gentle hint of lavender on the finish, no sharp edges. The charm is its smooth, rich texture, made for an indulgent Martinez or (better) a quality Martini. Alc 47% In its vintage-style bottle it's a great Christmas gift for gin fans or Pinot Grigio fans and if you know someone who loves both... it's a no-brainer. The TV personality is the new face of Ginato Italian Gin, which has recently launched in 22 countries.

There are all the gin elements a traditionalist would want – but seen through a Scandinavian filter. It’s like rolling a lemon in your hands in a cool pine forest. That vibrant pine element becomes sweeter and more heathery on the palate, with a high note of coriander dying away slowly on the finish. It’s elegant, highly drinkable, different and yet still respectful. Good as a Martini or a G&T. Organic. Alc 40.5% Having the calibre of Gino D'Acampo join us at Ginato, with his expert knowledge of Italian flavour and ingredients, it is a really exciting time for the development of the brand.Ginato gin uses a spirit made from Pinot Grigio grapes grown in Italy’s northern wine regions as its base. The expressions’ ‘bright and balanced’ flavours derive from juniper sourced from Tuscany and citrus from southern Italy. Most Spanish and Italian gins go down the citrus route, but not Gin Mare. This is savoury rather than sweet – think olives and garrigue, particularly rosemary and thyme – with a touch of sea-breeze saltiness and a twist of lemon. It’s sweeter and softer on the palate than you’d expect, so although it works fine in a G&T, it’s at its best in a Martini, where it can show off its subtlety and silkiness. Alc 42.7% Hos Ginbutikken anvender vi PostNord til alle vores pakker, det betyder at du i 99% af alle tilfælde har dine pakker allerede dagen efter, ihvertfald på bestillinger lagt inden 14:00. A vibrant, fresh colour with definite raspberry aromas. Like strolling through a bramble patch. On the palate, rich opulent fruit gives a sweet and sour character. Juniper undertones. A wonderfully well-made gin that delivers on flavour and character. Vanilla, white fruits, earthy, apple blossoms and notes of apple aromas on the nose combining with concord grape, chamomile and juniper flavours on the palate. Alcohol and sugar well-integrated with the flavours displaying a woody undertone and lingering fruity finish. Classic Old Tom Gin from The House of Botanicals is a historic style of gin reminiscent of 18th century gins. These gins had sugar added to them to make them smoother and to mask undesirable flavors in the gin. The judging panel described the gin as:You have to be brave to oak-age gin, but this tiny distillery on the island of Hven between Sweden and Denmark has pulled it off well. A light and wheaty gin, with a touch of sweet spice, the oak acts almost as a binding agent on which the other elements sit shyly. It’s textural rather than aromatic, but very smooth with a dry finish. Good Martini gin. Alc 40% John Soden, CCO of Ginato owner Kirker Greer Spirits, said: “We have been blown away by the success of Ginato Italian Gin in every market it has entered so far, and our goal is to continue to build on that success as we introduce the product across Australia. The Australian drinks industry is extremely dynamic and we feel that Ginato will be a great addition to the Dan Murphy’s and BWS premium spirits portfolio.” Brilliantly complex and herbal on the nose, bursting with notes of peppermint tea and apple blossom. The palate offers a layered floral profile alongside fruitier characters. Bold, bright, and fabulously intriguing, demonstrating wonderful length and poise on the finish.

Mr D'Acampo said: “My homeland has always shaped not only the way I cook but also what I eat and drink. Italians have a passion for great quality produce, and this is everything that Ginato Gin embodies. We are seeing exceptional growth and success with Ginato in the Australian market and we look forward to continuing to build on that success with our partners.”

Southern Italy is blessed with a Mediterranean climate. Sunny hot days and cold nights, coupled with unique terroir, gives the citrus fruits a typical sweetness and taste that is very difficult to find anywhere else in the world. Opihr Aromatics Bitters Gin is a savory led gin with a distinctive bitter note from cascarilla bark, along with burnt orange and fragrant myrrh. The judging panel described it as:

Ryan: We have used Nebbiolo, Barbera and Sangiovese grapes in our other flavor variants but our experience has been that the consumer instantly recognizes and connects with Pinot Grigio in a way they don’t with the other lesser known varieties. Pinot Grigio grape will now feature across the full Ginato Gin range including the pink grapefruit, clementine orange and pomegranate flavor variants. Dara: Did you always know you wanted to use Pinot Grigio grapes or was there a sort of trial and error?

Other Gold Outstanding medalist gins included North Point Distillery, Crosskirk Bay Gin and Edwards Distillers, Four Feathers Raspberry and Lime Gin. The latter was described by the judging panel as: Lovely light lemon notes; slightly floral with coriander, herbs and pepper aromas shining through on the nose. Well-balanced palate with cardamom, a soft butteryness and pepper combining with the citrus notes, creating a well-integrated and well-made interesting gin. Crafted using the true essence of Italy - Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Barbera. These grape varieties can all be found in Italy’s finest growing regions that circumnavigate the idyllic lakes of the north. Hand sourced from the rolling hills of Tuscany and the green heart of Umbria. The crops grow at high elevations where there are few trees and many wildflowers. The Italian berries are a smaller, higher grade, more complex and fruity in flavour.
