About this deal

We first published this Cantonese soy sauce pan-fried noodles recipe in December 2013, a few months after we started The Woks of Life. Since then, it has become one of the all-time favorite recipes on the blog. Soybeans and foods made from them are generally rich in arginine, an amino acid believed to help regulate blood pressure levels ( 20). Minimal ingredients - These soy sauce noodles have just 6 ingredients in and as most of them are store cupboard staples, you probably already have these in your kitchen. Making it the perfect meal to make when you have no idea what to make. Standard Soy Sauce from the supermarket is great for noodles. That being said however, there is both light soy sauce and dark soy sauce versions available. If you want your noodles to have a golden brown colour like Asian restaurant noodles, you will need to use a combination of both types of soy sauce. Creating kongguksu from scratch can indeed be a lengthy process, given that its primary ingredient, soybeans, requires careful preparation to transform into soy milk.

For instance, one recent review suggests that a median intake of 25 grams of soy protein per day may help reduce total and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels by around 3% ( 14). Garlic - This recipe is quite garlic heavy, just the way we like it. If you don't love garlic as much as we do, then you can reduce the amount used or just leave it out completely. We crushed fresh garlic, but you could use frozen or garlic from a jar to save even more time. Armed with a good blender, you’re just seconds away from your meal. Simply add your ingredients into the blender, process until smooth, then pour the resulting mixture over your cooked noodles. It’s as straightforward and efficient as it gets. List of IngredientsToasted sesame seeds: These are used for seasoning. Sugar is optional, so use it according to your preference if you want a hint of sweetness. To put this into perspective, this would be the equivalent of eating around 5–15.5 ounces (140–440 grams) of tofu or 1/3–1 cup (35–100 grams) of cooked soybeans each day ( 7, 12). May reduce the risk of breast cancer Additionally, commercial soy milk is readily available in grocery stores and it saves you the hassle of soaking, grinding, and straining soybeans. This approach not only cuts down on prep time, but it also guarantees a consistent, creamy base for your soup. Enhancing Kongguksu: Addition of peanuts and sesame seeds These comforting soy sauce noodles come together in minutes with simple ingredients that satisfy any time of day! Peanut oil: an aromatic oil that is excellent to use in Asian recipes. It is much lighter in colour than olive oil and has a very fragrant taste about it.

However, it’s unclear whether these small blood-pressure-lowering benefits apply to people with normal and elevated blood pressure levels. However, the authors believe that, in practice, reductions may be larger when people eat soy protein instead of animal protein. However, more research is needed to confirm this ( 14). One review including 17 randomized control studies — the gold standard in research — suggests that soy isoflavones may help slightly reduce blood sugar and insulin levels in menopausal women ( 24). In another study, soy foods were found to offer some protection against the effects of bisphenol A (BPA), a compound found in some plastics believed to reduce fertility ( 30).
