About this deal

Nadia Shireen has won awards for her picture books including the UKLA Book Award for Good Little Wolf and most recently for Barbara Throws a Wobbler, which has been described as a ‘little doorway of joy’ by Caitlin Moran. She’s also been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and the Waterstones Children's Book Prize, and has been Writer-Illustrator in Residence for BookTrust. Grimwood is her first series for older readers. This was a little bit 'different'. We've loved Shireen's picture books (all of them) and saw her name on this and wanted to try a book for the older ages. Los personajes son divertidos, carismáticos y mi favorito ha sido Ted por su parte tierna. Nancy, su hermana, tiene la responsabilidad de cuidarlo y protegerlo y en ocasiones resulta muy protectora con Ted.

Is the stranger a fox? Ted says, yes! but the rest of the animals in Grimwood aren’t so sure. They warn Ted about going out looking for trouble, or as Ted puts it, looking for mom and dad, but Ted won’t give up that easily. Shireen’s latest book confirms her as one of the brightest and best picture book creators working in Britain today … Sensational.’ – ObserverPerfect for readers age 7+, and fans of Dog Man, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Loki: A Bad God's Guide to Being Good, Bunny vs Monkey and anyone who likes to laugh. Hilarant! The inside of Nadia Shireen's brain must be a fun place to be because there are SO MANY funny jokes and hilarious moments in Grimwood: Let the Fur Fly! GO read it now!' Maisie Chan, author of Branford Boase winning Danny Chung Does Not Do Maths

The thing is, no place is perfect and Grimwood also has its dark secrets (duh! Did you see the name of the pace?). It all comes into play, when a mysterious stranger grabs Ted by the tail. With regular interjections from Eric Dynamite (woodlouse) popping up and adding comments along the way, it's a story centred around two young foxes, brother and sister Ted and Nancy, parentless. But also gives us chapters from the perspectives of various animals around Grimwood, then brings the plots together. Skurrile, tierische Charaktere purzeln in ein kurioses Abenteuer. Vervollständigt durch sw Comic-Illustrationen. It doesn't really matter what the plot is, though the foxes are trying to keep out of the cat's way and must use any new friends they have to help them. The point is that it's a funny trip into an animal world of quirky silliness, with the narrator taking great pleasure in all the voices.Perfect for listeners age 7+, and fans of Dog Man, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Loki, Bunny vs Monkey and anyone who likes to laugh.
