Similar to his first book I read, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, Dispenza is vulnerable in telling his own story, sharing his doubts and struggles along the way. Dispenza gives accounts of others, too, who healed themselves with positive mental attitude shifts. Is his approach mere pie in the sky optimism? Not a chance, says Dispenza. “None of the methods you’ll read about here involve denying whatever health condition you may presently have,” he writes. “Instead of being about rejecting reality, You Are the Placebo is about projecting what’s possible when you step into a new reality.” Reading Dizpenza’s stories opened my eyes to the power of the mind in healing the body.

I hope i can continue with all this because it is awesome. Sometimes we give up after a while. I hope i won't. To see this book rated so highly is a genuine concern. I received this book by accident as a gift as it was the option that came up when someone types in "Placebo" (another book) into Google. This book I think would truly deserve a score of 0, BUT, I have no doubt that is has helped some people, though it's unlikely this book (or workshop) as been the reason. repatterns our brains and changes our biology; the new experience will reorganize the old programming, and in so doing, it will remove the neurological evidence of that past experience. (Think of how a bigger wave breaking farther up on the beach erases any sign of whatever shell, seaweed, sea foam, or sand pattern was there before.) Strong emotional experiences create long-term memories. So this new internal experience creates new long-term memories that override our past”We are creatures of habit. We think somewhere between 60,000 to 70,000 thoughts in one day,1 and 90 percent of those thoughts are exactly the same ones we had the day before.” To access your sub-conscience mind, you need to get into a low brain wave state. When we are in a high brain wave state, our analytical mind is running and running with thoughts, worries, planning, and disbelief. When you slow your mind down, you can get past those running thoughts and connect with your sub-conscience mind. if you can experience a healing over and over again in the inner world of thoughts and feelings, then in time, that healing should finally manifest as an outer experience. In other words, if you mentally rehearse that unknown future with a clear intention and an elevated emotion, and do it repeatedly, then based on what you’ve learned, you should have real neuroplastic changes in your brain and epigenetic changes in your body.” Also: I don't agree with him that "I have to work hard to succeed" is a bad belief. It's a true belief. He himself works hard with his workshops to help people. I think what he's trying to say is "life is hard" is a bad belief. Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions for increasing your level of suggestibility. It teaches your body emotionally that the event you’re grateful for has already happened, because we usually give thanks after a desirable event has occurred.

The book shows the reader that when we truly change our state of being, our bodies can respond to the new mind. That by paying attention to our emotions on a daily basis and making the choice of which emotions serve us, and which don’t, we can then take control of co-creating a happier and healthier future.This process involves thinking about your future actions, mentally planning your choices, and focusing your mind on the new experience...

And finally, anyone who tries to tie the realm of Quantum Physics and neurophysiology are beyond presumptuous. It's pure overreach and unfounded science. Dr. Joe Despenza talks about the new science of epigenetics. Meaning, we can change our DNA based on our thoughts and environment. Every thought we think is signaling our genes to express in a certain way. Toxic thinking leads to toxic expression and problems in the body- Positive thinking leads to positive gene expression and health. I suggest reading this one second. There is some overlap between the two books but nothing major. And it is much more practical about meditation.

Which really begs the question of how do you really turn your body into a placebo? This requires a scientific investigation and testing, which no one is really doing. Certainly meditation does seem like a step in the right direction, but how do we replicate the results. Relying on anecdotal evidence isn't science.Your personality is made up of how you think, act, and feel. It is your state of being. Therefore, your same thoughts, actions, and feelings will keep you enslaved to the same past personal reality. However, when you as a personality embrace new thoughts, actions, and feelings, you will inevitably create a new personal reality in your future.”
