About this deal

The audio quality blew me away. I have previously used the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Apple AirPods Pro, and the Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS earbuds. These sound the 'cleanest' out of all, thanks to its Class AB amplifier that reduces any distortion in audio. The audio is flat balanced, and natural (other places confirm that these do have a near flat frequency response curve). I listened to "Polyphia - Playing God" on these earbuds, and man, I got an eargasm on my first listening experience... 😳 If you’re coming from a set of earbuds like the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, it can be an unnerving experience. My first reaction was, wait, where did the high-end go? But once you give yourself a few minutes to adjust to the acoustics, that’s when it hits you: as fun as it can be to listen to a set of earbuds that magnify certain sounds, it can also be tiring. The ZE8000 are just a more relaxed way to listen. Simon Cohen / Digital Trends But there is chaos, danger and clashing of sounds together as they twirl and spin into melodic bliss. I’ve always thought that it must be similar for metal fans, the risk of the whole thing just falling apart is always present and the symphony of noise can feel dangerous. Do increases in separation and clarity reduce that sense of chaos? Or is that up to the artist?

A separate wind-noise reduction mode is helpful when there’s a breeze, however, it only works for ANC — calls are another story. If you want the best value for your money, the ZE3000 are no-brainers. If you want the best Final has to offer, the ZE8000 are the only choice, even though they come with a laundry list of caveats. Conclusion The ZE8000 app includes the Volume Step Optimizer which allows you to increase or decrease volume in smaller decibel steps than is usually set on your smartphone’s volume control. However, most of my reviewing was done using an Astell and Kern SE180/SEM1/SEM4 DAP which works much smaller than 1dB steps. However, using this app on my Sony Xperia phone was a godsend. The AirPods Pro 2 works better with genres like metal, hip-hop, and electronic music, while the ZE8000 is better for acoustics, jazz, and classical music. It is a more relaxed listen, and if that’s your preference, you’ll definitely be happy with those, if you can live with some of the ZE8000’s quirks.

Technical Specifications

Final heavily markets the 8K sound mode, but I am a bit perplexed by the effects. The upper-treble may be cleaner sounding with this mode turned on, but it might as well be a placebo (i.e., changes do not appear on measurements). The Final Connect app allows customizing the sound via EQ. The middle portion of the stem acts as a touch-sensitive panel. Touch accuracy and consistency are average, sometimes you will miss a tap or two (or accidentally trigger), but it’s not as bad as the ZE3000.

There’s good dynamic ability on display too, both where the nuts-and-bolts of getting from ‘quiet’ to ‘loud’ promptly and the second-stage harmonic variations evident in voices or instruments are concerned. In fact, the way the Final Audio deal with voices is one of the most impressive and engaging things about them - they give singers of all types plenty of character and plenty of attitude. There’s more than enough space for a vocalist to do their thing, but never any hint of estrangement or separation from the recording as a whole. Another thing worth mentioning is that the AirPods Pro 2 is rather limited to iOS users, while the Final ZE8000 works better with Android, thanks to its codecs. This should also be a very important aspect before choosing between the two – which system are you using. Many users value maximum noise reduction from wireless headphones, but audiophiles know that the digital signal processing required for ANC to work also tends to alter the music signal, sometimes in unacceptable ways. As Final’s top priority has always been sound quality, the Company took of advantage of the latest Bluetooth technology. Final’s engineers customized the drivers and the earbuds’ internal structure and incorporated the latest manufacturing techniques. The result was the Company’s first TWS model, the ZE3000, which was soon followed by ZE2000 that adopted a different sound tuning. Both have been very successful and considered by many as the best-sounding true wireless earbuds nowadays.
