He was nominated for a BAFTA award for best Children's Television Presenter in 2011 and the show won an RTS North And West award for best children's programme in 2011. As such, the start of the academic year - when everybody is getting to know one another – is the ideal time to start an “all about me” topic. The book’s text is rhythmic and patterned, meaning that the children have been able to join in more and more as they become familiar with the story. This section contains a collection of Short Term Plans (STPs) and Medium Term Plans (MTPs) on the topic of ‘magical me’. An exploration of the concept of identity using the story of the Ship of Theseus, made famous by British philosopher Thomas Hobbes.

Encourage pupils to agree or disagree without judging, and move the discussion forward by asking for new thoughts. The best picture in the whole book is the “Sometimes I’m like a volcano…” page, best tantrum picture ever.I particularly liked the two pages at the front and back of the book; the first showing a variety of characters in muted colours, the last showing the same characters but with colour and added details giving them personality.

Preston said “I like scratching like a dinosaur”, encouraging Joe to be more specific and realise: “I can be like a T-Rex and stretch up tall. You are permitted to print, display, alter, transform or add to the digital version of the resource as long as it is not for commercial purposes. The work you are putting into your business is such a great investment in the lives of so many others. The ship needs numerous repairs at George’s Shipyard where George replaces the old wooden pieces with metal ones, until by the end of the voyage the 'Theseus' is entirely made of metal.

A young boy compares himself to different objects, creatures and other people to find out ‘what makes me a me? A funny and thought-provoking look at what makes us us, from Ben Faulks (known as Mr Bloom from CBeebies) and David Tazzyman (bestselling illustrator of You Can't Take an Elephant on the Bus). Ben Faulks’ thought-provoking story is accompanied by illustrations from David Tazzyman, whom older readers will recognise as the illustrator for the Mr Gum series. Their thinking then moved away from friends, to consider animals and objects - just as in the book, when the main character thinks about superheroes and trees.Any book that causes this reaction at this point in the term should be in every single EYFS book box. Lucy said “I am a bit like my friend”, which prompted Harry to add: “I am a bit like my friend because we are both kind. This adaptation of Peter Worley’s 'The If Machine', encourages children to consider the meaning of identity and explores personal memories, experiences and the soul. Each page the combination of words and pictures had me smiling widely and laughing, especially when he talks about his mums dancing, and not understanding why Super Guy loves kissing girls. Ben Faulks has captured my imagination and got me to run with it to discover who I am, just as the boy in the book does.

And ‘If you could make a clone of yourself, would the clone also possess your thoughts and memories? Now, this is all very well with ancient ships and what not but what happens if we think about something a little closer to home? This book would be good to use with children that find it hard to accept who they are, to support children’s self-esteem, or to just help children be aware that who they are is a perfectly made combination of many things. The children had great fun with me and a pretend remote control, making choices for when they could start and stop me. However, its themes of change and transition make it particularly suitable for the summer term before children move into the next year group or, in the case of Year 6, before they move to new schools. The illustrator has drawn the best facial expressions on the little boy in the book, in fact all the illustrations are nothing short of perfection.
