Adapted exclusively for the stage, Wish You Were Dead is the latest thrilling instalment of the Grace Series – the most successful modern-day crime stage franchise, since Agatha Christie. This explanation gives a very helpful insight into the mind of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, a new kind of detective who is going through turmoil in his own life, as well as trying to prevent it from happening in the lives of others. The Thrillogy by Todd Strasser is a trilogy of standalones, which means you can read whichever story seems to pique your interest, even if it's not the first one. But I highly recommend you read all three of them because these books are amazeballs.

She doesn’t want to talk, so I’m not going to force her to talk. That is the one thing I will never do to Jane. I know Jane has been through a lot and her talking to me normally is something I will never risk to lose. Forcing her to talk is one of the worst things that I can do to her because so many people try to do that with her already" Join DSI Roy Grace and Cleo Morley as they take their first family holiday together and a well earned break from their crime solving exploits. It has those mafia vibes, though I don't feel it was ever fully presented except to explain where all these families and people knew each other from (though that could have to do with where I stopped). It was apparent that the characters surrounding the story were from other books. Would I have appreciated the story more if I read those books? I don't know. I'm leaning on no, though. This story didn't draw me in. The characters didn't draw me in. I felt less lost in the story and more like my head was trying to escape it. The dialogue felt too...staged? And I could not get myself to like Rowan. Could not. Like many of us, I've just about come to accept, if not particularly like that the internet knows more about me than I do. Goodreads, for example, knows my reading tastes pretty well now and never hesitates to recommend a load more books that are similar to one that I've given a good review for - which isn't necessarily something I need to see when the likes of Netgalley, Booksirens and various Facebook groups are all doing the exact same thing. And speaking of Facebook, I've come to accept that I sometimes miss updates from my friends because my news feed is full of posts about books, caravan holidays and outdoor swimming.Jane and Rowan both went through so much in such a young age at that. They didn't deserve anything that happened to them. When I read about what Rowan went through I could not hold in anymore. I felt so bad for him cause he did not deserve all that. But they both were so strong after going through such traumatic experiences🥹 The book "Wish You Were Dead" is a similar version of another story written by Lois Duncan, "I Know what you did Last Summer". Madison Archer, a student of Soundview High school suddenly gets mysterious death threats after her best friend had disappeared. In addition, a blogger called Str-s-d posts up blogs of how much he/she wants the popular kids to drop dead. Time is running out. Madison needs to find out who is behind this whole puzzle scheme before she is next!

When Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and Cleo Morey take their first holiday together, they hope for a few days away from their dark worlds of murder and the mortuary. But their dream escape turns out to be the holiday from hell.Overall, Wish You Were Dead is one of those books I recommend reading when you aren’t home alone. It creeped me out but it was definitely in a good way. If you haven’t read any of Todd Strasser’s books this is a good one to start with. =] DNF'd by 50%] I appreciate the trigger warnings the author placed early on, especially since the story starts with a traumatic event. From what I could force myself to read, it has the bodyguard trope, some mafia vibes, insta!love, and dark romance tones.
